Apurbo Sarkar Apu of Rajshahi secured the first runner-up position and Saju Ahmed of Kurigram became the second runner-up in the grand finale of this year contest. Atikur Rahman Atik who competed in the final round got the fourth place.
The final result was announced after judgments of the three judges -Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul, Fahmida Nabi and Partha Barua - and SMS votes from the audiences. Liza won the top position and grabbed a total of 88 marks - 13,89,951 SMS votes and 38 votes out of 50 from the judges. Apu secured a total of 68 marks - 6,88,961 SMS votes and 47 votes out of 50 from the judges and Saju grabbed 68 marks including 8,02,453 SMS votes.
Liza got Tk 10 lakh and a new brand car sponsored by NTV, Apu received Tk 5 lakh and Saju received Tk 3 lakh. Rest of the nine contestants got one lakh Taka each. Besides, There is a 'music contract' for the 12 contestants of the final round and scope to attend concerts in USA, Australia and Europe. Therefore all the 12 contestants will get Tk 50,000 as scholarship for their development musical arena.
The grand finale of the contest was held at Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre in the city Wednesday night. Private satellite channel NTV aired the gala show from 8:00pm to 10:15pm.
Rakesh Mohan, Country Manager of Unilever, Naushad Karim Chowdhury, Director of Brands and Development of Unilever Bangladesh, Enayetur Rahman Bappi, Managing Director of NTV, musician Sujeoy Shyam and three judges of the contests spoke at the gala final of the Close Up 1 contest. Close Up 1 stars Abid and Putul moderated the whole show. The winner Liza is a first year student in Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam College in Mymensingh. She passed SSC in 2008 from Gouripur Pilot Girls' High School commerce group. She wants to be a Chartered Accountant (CA) in future and she wants to have a singing career at the same time. She is the eldest child of her parents and has only one loving brother. She considers her father as her greatest inspiration.
Famous music composer Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul asked Liza, "Bees collect honey from where?" then she replied, "From flowers." But a eulogised Bulbul said that she is wrong because it is her voice that makes honey sweet. This was a tremendous source of inspiration for Liza to secure her place in the last six in the Closeup 1 2008 contest.
When Liza took part in audition round in Mymensing, her SSC exam was going on but she did not give up. She was the last contestant there. In the audition round she started with the song 'Eki sonar aloy' and sang other six songs one by one.
Judges were captivated and gave her the 'Yes Card' to go all the way to Dhaka. This was how Liza started her Closeup 1 journey and continued to show her potentials as a budding music talent. In the Selection Round she presented two songs 'Eki sonar aloy' and 'Tumi mishti kore dushto bolo'. 'Aai re megh aaire' was the song of her 'Instrument Round.
Film 'Ki Jadu Korila' to be released under the banner of Sadia Sohan Kothachitra in Eid-ul-Azha across the country. Chandan Chowdhury has directed the film, while Anwar Hossain Mintu has produced it.
Mahfuzur Rahman Khan was in camera, while Shahidul Haque was in editing of the film. Alam Khan was in music direction. Riaz, Popy, Ratna, Sagorika, Humayun Faridi, Dolly Zahur, Kabila, Rehana Jolly, Shirin Alam and newcomer Mir Sabbir have performed in the film. Dubai: Police arrested a gang of four men for trafficking of absconding girls and attempting to sell them for prostitution purposes.
On November 22, Dubai Police's Criminal Investigation Department (CID), received a tip-off that a gang of four Bangladeshi men were holding a girl from the same nationality and were offering to sell her for Dh4,000.
A source from the CID got in touch with the gang and offered to buy the girl.
They agreed to meet near one of the hotels around the Naif area.
At 10pm the same day, four men showed up at the location and one of them asked the CID source to give them the Dh4,000, but he refused and asked to see the girl first.
Clean recordThe suspect left for a while and came back with the girl, handed her to the source and received the money while being watched by other CID personnel, who raided the place and arrested the other gang members. 
The suspects were identified as, Mohammad Sabhan, Mohammad Qamar, Nizam Mohammad and Haroon Au Al Bashrat.
Police found large amounts of money on the suspects after searching them.
It also turned out that Haroon had entered the country illegally.
The girl told police that she had arrived at Dubai Airport and one of the suspects who had received her took her to a room in Al Nakheel area, kept her there and forced her into prostitution.
The gang was referred to the Public Prosecution on charges of human trafficking.

On 7th July Sabbir, a Bashundhara Group employee was murdered. A national newspaper published a report on 20th July where they relate Jona with this case, which was stunning news for all of us as well as Jona. On 21st July, Jona called for a press conference at Dhaka Reporter’s Unit where she demanded that she was abroad at that time and showed different types of documents. For instance, Visa, travel card etc. Jona said that this is a conspiracy against her.
